Your Next Job Offer Could Be a Cyberattack

The LinkedIn Trap: How Trusted Professionals Become the Entry Point.

Audience
All employees · IT and security teams · Executives · HR and recruiters · Software teams
Duration
90 minutes
Format
Virtual or in person

The central question

If the most dangerous message you receive this year looked like a great opportunity, would you open it?

Fake recruiters do not need to break into a company. They only need one trusted professional to say yes to an interview, a form or a coding assignment. The attack arrives wrapped in flattery, urgency and a realistic career.

This keynote helps every employee, from the front desk to the board, to recognize the pattern, to verify before they trust and to know exactly what to do in the first minutes after a mistake. It uses a recent, sourced case study and safe simulated exercises. No malware is shown or run.

The most dangerous attachment may arrive as an opportunity, not a threat.

Five modules, ninety minutes

Each module ends with an activity in which participants work on their own context, not on a slide.

How the 90 minutes are distributed
  1. The Interview That Wasn't: 15 min
  2. Your Digital Identity Is an Attack Surface: 20 min
  3. The File That Opened the Door: 20 min
  4. Architecture, AI and the Human Firewall: 20 min
  5. Don't Become the Next Entry Point: 15 min
  1. 15 min

    The Interview That Wasn't

How a fake recruitment process builds trust step by step, introduced through a recent case study and the pattern behind it.

Activity: Evaluate a fictional recruiter profile and mark the signals that should slow you down.

  2. 20 min

Your Digital Identity Is an Attack Surface

What your public profile, job history and connections tell someone who wants to impersonate an opportunity.

Activity: Verify a company's domain and an independent contact channel in a safe, simulated scenario.

  3. 20 min

The File That Opened the Door

Why technical assignments, documents and tools are a common route into a device, and the rules that make them safer to handle.

Activity: Inspect a safe, simulated technical-assignment scenario and decide what you would check before opening it.

  4. 20 min

Architecture, AI and the Human Firewall

How one compromised device can reach further when internal tools and AI assistants connect to sensitive systems, and how architecture and people limit the reach.

Activity: Sketch what a single compromised laptop could reach in your own environment, at a conceptual level.

  5. 15 min

Don't Become the Next Entry Point

A first-15-minutes response protocol and a personal digital-trust plan that every participant can start the same day.

Activity: Practice reporting a suspicious download without executing it, and write your personal action plan.

Case study

Preliminary account

A fake job interview at the start of a major exchange incident

In the keynote, a recent incident is used as a case study, based on Binance's own preliminary update and press reporting published on November 3, 2026. It is not a final forensic finding.

  • Binance has described a months-long campaign. According to its preliminary account, an engineer was approached in September through a job platform by someone posing as a project director.
  • Video interviews followed, and the engineer was then asked to download a coding assignment onto a work computer. Binance says the file contained malware that evaded endpoint security.
  • Binance says the attackers later used a compromised machine and an internal AI tool to reach other engineers' computers, and that funds began leaving on October 29, 2026.
  • Binance says it is bringing in independent cybersecurity experts to review the incident.

How we use this case

  • The account is preliminary and may change as the investigation continues.
  • The keynote does not claim that LinkedIn or any specific platform was hacked, or that the official report established a specific recruitment channel.
  • No malware is shown, run or reproduced. The case is used to teach recognition, verification and response.
